Catholic
In Italy a Catholic wedding can only be performed in a consecrated church and it can be either a Catholic blessing ceremony (where the couple arrives already legally bound) or a Catholic wedding with civil validity automatically registered with the Italian authorities.
In Italy Catholic weddings require specific Religious Requirements to be completed several months prior to the wedding, which final approval depends only on the local Diocese.
Should one of the parties be divorced, the Catholic Church will not allow you to remarry in a church, unless the Rota previously invalidated the marriage. If you have not received a formal annulment recognized by the Catholic Authorities only a civil ceremony will be possible.
Please take a look to the Religious Requirements.
